The Alberta Ballet will be closing out their 2023/24 season with an exhilarating double bill of Der Wolf, and The Right of Spring. The two dark and mysterious pieces explore the depths of the original stories with new twists. 

Program

The Rite of Spring, which left audiences aghast at its 1913 premiere, was reworked by Nicolo Fonte in 2014 while still building upon Igor Stravinsky's original dramatic score. It navigates through themes of rebirth, ritual sacrifice, and community, in ways you've never see.

Der Wolf is a twisted take on the infamous European fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood. It premiered at the Oper Graz in Austria in 2021 and is an exploration of the duality of being a young woman and the fight for dominance. A thrilling and dramatic night unlike any you'll ever experience again!
